ORLANDO, FL, October 18, 2022 – SKYTRAC Systems Ltd. (SKYTRAC), a global leader in aerospace intelligent connectivity and satellite communications (satcom), today announced that its DL150 Satellite Data Unit (SDU) has been selected by Southeast Aerospace as an optional part of their new InSight upgrade Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) supporting Hawker 800 series aircraft.

The upgrade, on course to receiving final FAA certification in early Q1 2023, incorporates the DL150 SDU to meet the requirements for global Future Air Navigation System (FANS 1/A+) and long-range FANS 1/A+ oceanic connectivity supported by the Iridium NEXT satellite network. SKYTRAC’s DL150 SDU forms the core satcom supporting an optional data link connectivity package for flight operations in the North Atlantic Track Route System (NATS).

The Southeast Aerospace upgrade program enhances both the value and operational flight profile of Hawker 800 (A)(B)(XP) series aircraft through significant upgrades in the cockpit that will ensure continued global operation of these aircraft long into the future.

“The Hawker 800s have been mostly left alone from major retrofits across their whole lifespan,” said Luke Gomoll, Aircraft Modifications Expert at Southeast Aerospace. “The upgrade enables the flight crew the use of digital departure clearances and take advantage of the FANS 1/A+ tracks in oceanic airspace which directly translates into reduced time in the air and a reduction of the overall operating costs of the aircraft.”

Adding the FANS 1/A+, Controller-Pilot Data Link, ADS-C, Departure Clearance, and Aeronautical Telecommunications Network Baseline 1 standards enable these aircraft to be among the best equipped and best served in the airspace.

“We are pleased to be working with Southeast Aerospace incorporating our DL150 Satellite Data Unit as an optional capability in this upgrade package,” mentioned Ray Larkin, Executive Aviation at SKYTRAC. “It is fulfilling to participate with such a highly respected MRO and adding to the operational reach of the in-service Hawker 800 fleet.”
