Growing Gender Diversity in Aerospace

Female leaders all over the world are working to shape the future of aviation and aerospace. In our group of companies alone, female leaders support in engineering, finance, human resources, programming, sales, innovation, and more, effectively interfacing with every aspect of our organization.

Although a career in aerospace is an exciting opportunity that is open to anyone, the sector’s diversity is just now starting to emerge after decades of hard work and persistence. Our group of companies, which include SKYTRAC, Flight Data Systems, FreeFlight Systems, and Latitude Technologies, is proud to support our female leaders in their quest to make aviation safer and more efficient through a portfolio of leading technologies. With more women entering the sector, aviation’s future could look much different than it did a few years ago, and we are committed to ensuring that occurs.

We recently celebrated several of the women leaders in our group and hope their messages can aid in inspiring young females to forge careers in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

What would tell young females interested in joining the industry?

“There are so many career paths, not just in flight, to join the industry. There are so many things to get involved in, from sales and marketing to human resources to operations, so don’t focus on flight operations or being a pilot.” – Ashley Ring, FreeFlight VP, Sales & Marketing. Based in Irving, USA

What positive trait(s) do you feel women bring to the industry?

“I believe women bring ingenuity, compassion, flexibility, strategic thought processes, active listening, and versatile leadership to this industry.” – LeMiracle Hendking, FreeFlight Director of Sales. Based in Irving, USA

Do you have any inspiring lessons that you have learned about life while working in the aviation industry?

“The industry is very technical. Given my role, I will never truly understand the technical aspects of what we as a company do on a daily basis. I have learned to accept that but to recognize that every role is an important cog in our SKYTRAC machine.” Alicia Brown, SKYTRAC Financial Manager. Based in Kelowna, Canada: Read more
